SATTE recognizes that
India is one of the most
robust markets for
travel and tourism in
the world. The annual
showcase of the
composite product has
repositioned itself to
focus on the power of
Indian travel. Primarily
for domestic, within
India, a country of over
1 billion people, and a
growing middle class, of
the size of USA, where
each one of this middle
class has become a
potential traveler.
India's domestic
movements are estimated
at 600 million annually
and domestic air
movements at 43.84
million in 2009, set to
grow at over four - five
million yearly, to cross
50 million next year.
This same domestic
market is a huge captive
market for regional
travel around India, in
south asia, the middle
east and the Far-East.
In fact, Indian
travelers are among the
top generators for all
receiving countries
within the region. Hong
Kong , Malaysia,
Singapore, Thailand, Sri
Lanka, Dubai, are most
active in the Indian
market, to lure and
ensure a greater share
of the Indian outbound.
The creamy layer is
the Indian Inbound. A
modest 5 million
visitors come to India
annually. This number is
small, considering
India's size and variety
of attractions. But with
the governments new
emphasis on improving
infrastructures,
comprising airports and
highways, and most of
all, improving year
round connectivity with
the rest of the world,
we expect inbound
members to grow, in the
coming years.
Appropriately, SATTE
has repositioned itself,
in keeping with the
dimensions of the
overall Indian travel
and tourism Industry.
Each segment is being
promoted, commensurate
with the stability,
reliability and growth
potential, in terms of
numbers and opportunity. |
